For the safety of participants and spectators of the Battle of Lake Erie Reenactment on September 2, 2013 the U.S. Coast Guard is creating a 4,500 yard radius Special Local Regulation at the reenactment site from 8:00AM to 6:00PM. The primary site is located to the northwest of Put-in-Bay, OH. In the event of inclement weather an alternate site has been established between South Bass Island and Kelley’s Island.

Vessels traveling in the Regulated Area shall remain vigilant at all times and comply with the following rules:

  • Travel at Minimum Safe Navigational/No Wake Speed;
  • No Anchoring;
  • Yield Right-of-Way to the Tall Ships and Safety Craft;
  • Observe and Obey the 500 Yard Safety Zone surrounding each Tall Ship;
  • Follow directions given by the Coast Guard Patrol Commander, On Scene Representative, Law Enforcement Officials and Safety Boats;

Safety Boats will display an Orange Triangular Pendant with the words “Safety Boat”

Title 33 CFR Part 100 requires vessels trnsiting within the Regulated Area to follow the additional navigation rules imposed on the area, to obey the commands and directions of the Coast Guard Patrol Commander, on-scene representative and local Law Enforcement Officials. Failure to do so may result in a civil penalty of up to $6,500.
